Donald Trump's immigration deportation policies had several impacts on the Korean community, a significant and vibrant part of the United States. The Trump administration took a hardline stance on immigration, especially on the deportation of undocumented immigrants, a policy that directly affected many Korean immigrants. 

The 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, officially became the President of the United States after completing his inauguration ceremony on January 20, 2025. The intense crackdown on undocumented immigrants by Donald Trump began on the 22nd, two days after his inauguration. 

According to The New York Times (NYT), as of 2024, there are approximately 14 million immigrants in the U.S. who are subject to deportation. Among them, around 150,000 Koreans residing locally are also included in the deportation target. This is primarily due to issues such as incomplete documentation, visa overstays, and other immigration violations. Due to this, there is a growing sense of tension within the Korean community in the United States. 

"Kim Dong-Seok, the president of the Korean American Voters Council (KAGC), said in an interview with Yonhap News on the 30th, 'President Trump's re-election would be a disaster for Korean Americans,' adding, 'The Korean community is engulfed in fear.'" 

The potential impact of deportation policies is profound, with significant and far-reaching consequences for industries dependent on low-wage labor and the mental well-being of immigrants, including permanent residents and student visa holders. This underscores the gravity of the situation. 

Given the intense pressure of Trump's crackdown on undocumented immigrants, it's crucial to stay informed about the future implications for both the Korean and U.S. communities. This underscores the importance of vigilance.
